Melrose Abbey, considered by many to be the most beautiful monastic ruin in Great Britain, plays host to the heart filled casket of our own Scottish King, Robert the Bruce. The discovery of a sealed casket was made during an excavation by high school students. Although the original cask was never opened it was re-sealed in a led container and buried within the grounds at Melrose Abbey, a true symbol of Scottish Heraldry and unequivocal proof that Scotland and its people are truly free.
Visit Abbotsford House , the home of renowned novelist Sir Walter Scott famous for works such as Ivanhoe , Rob Roy and The Lady of The Lake .
